The Glassmaker’s Journey: A Tale of Passion and Fusion
In the porcelain-rich city of Jingdezhen, China, Liang, a young glassmaker, had always been captivated by the delicate beauty of glass— He yearned to create something that would not only honor his Chinese heritage but also push the boundaries of what glass could be.
One day Liang stumbled upon the story of Venetian glassblowing—a centuries-old tradition from Murano, Italy, renowned for its elegance and precision. Intrigued, he decided to embark on a journey to Italy to learn the secrets of this art form. With his family’s blessing and a heart full of determination, Liang set off for Murano, the island of glass.
There, he became an apprentice under third-generation glassblower Master Giovanni. Learning and mastering the art of shaping molten glass into exquisite wine glasses. Yet, as his skills grew, so did his longing to bring this artistry back to his homeland. He decided to return to China and establish his own glassblowing studio, creating wine glasses that would honor both his Italian training and his Chinese roots.
The name 品 (Pǐn) was born from a moment of quiet reflection in Liang’s studio. a Chinese character rich with meaning. It means to savor, to appreciate, and to judge quality, but it is also composed of three mouths (口), symbolizing thesharing of wine, stories, and moments among friends and family.
Each glass is designed not just to hold wine, but to enhance the experience of savoring it—to elevate the act of drinking into a moment of connection and appreciation. The three mouths reminded him of the Italian tradition of toasting with loved ones, the Chinese custom of sharing tea, and the universal joy of coming together over a shared meal.
品 (Pǐn) is more than a name; it is an invitation. An invitation to slow down, to savor the richness of life, and to celebrate the beauty of craftsmanship and culture. With every sip from a 品 glass, you are not just tasting wine—you are tasting a story, a journey, and a legacy of artistry that bridges East and West.
Because the finest moments in life are meant to be savored.
